The blessings of God Pt. 1
This week has been a reminder of the blessings of God in our lives. Wed. was Independence Day - a reminder of the freedoms we still have in this country. We have freedoms to worship, of the press, to congregate peaceably, own firearms, etc. We celebrated this federal holiday by having friends over, a reminder that we do have friends that care about us. It was good to celebrate with them, and we appreciated the relational and physical blessings they gave that day.
Thursday we visited Dalene's Bible study. What an amazing time of prayer, Bible study, worship, more prayer, and some encouraging prophecies. I wrote about those things in my journal, as they aren't all appropriate to write about here. They included, though, the reminder of the lesson to be patient - God is at work, even when I don't see it; God gave me a word of prophecy for somebody, which He hasn't done in years; though we hadn't told anybody of our needs, yet God gave one of the ladies there specific prayer points to pray for us about our needs. God is amazing.
Friday we went to the funeral for the baby of some friends of ours. She died in the womb just after coming to full term. In the midst of the pain for our friends, Shari & I were reminded of the blessing of our boys. Sometimes, in our selfishness, we forget that they are a tremendous blessing in so many ways. Thank you God for the reminder. We were also blessed by our friends, watching them navigate this painful time with grace, dependence on God, and love for others in the midst of their pain.
Thank you, God, for reminding us of the blessings you have given us. We are truly blessed.
