Wisdom from Australia

Sometimes others are able to articulate what I'm feeling so much better than I can. In this case, the Backyard Missionary does an excellent job of articulating the danger I feel like I'm struggling with as we've moved back to Moses Lake, and I'm in a role that doesn't require me to engage with people nearly as much as my role as youth pastor or substitute teacher did.

Middle Class and Middle Aged

Squawk, Flap, Thud.

Please take a few minutes (okay, maybe 10-15) and read these two articles. Feel free to leave a comment/thought. Personally, I'm especially impacted by the parable of the geese. I'd love to read the original. As I told Grendle in the comments section,
"My flesh wants to avoid these things (in their analogous ways), yet, in my heart, I’d rather pursue a “wild goose” life, with all it’s risks to life and limb and family… and I’d rather teach my boys the same, even as I also want to keep them safe. It’s a battle, no doubt – comfort vs. risk – but I truly want to pursue the “wild goose” life, even when I have to fight myself and my culture to figure out what that looks like at 40, and then do it."
