What's Mine Is His

From my journal, thoughts in response to Pastor Rhonda DiMare's encouragement on Sunday, Apr. 18, 2010

1 Chron. 29:10-20

All I have is nothing but what God's given me. He's given me a job. My role is to be a good steward of the office He's placed under my authority. All the stuff at my new home is stuff that really belongs to Him. While this doesn't give me excuse to be flippant or lazy with all He's given me, it does mean that, whatever happens, it is His to give or take away. He's given me my family to oversee, care for, and (in the case of my boys) raise. I am the "shepherd" of these "sheep" He's given me. Finally, everything that is good in my heart - motives, character traits, desires - He has put there. I can't praise Him apart from the new heart of flesh He's given me. It's all given freely by Him for His Glory.

Therefore: 1) Don't worry, 2) Be a good steward, and 3) Recommit to pursue Him, and continually give it all back to Him.

  • So so true, Paul. Love to read your writings. You are a great man with such committment to the Lord but a little bit crazy in order to stay with us a while. Love you much, Aunt Marilyn
