Michael's Concert

Michael had his Spring Concert tonight with the homeschool choir he belongs to. Every year, they pick up more talent, along with every year the current talent getting older and better. This year they had some amazing pieces, including a song I sang at Rogers High School a long, long time ago: Shenandoah. Though Michael wasn't a part of that song, they did it beautifully. My favorite song that Michael did was, "Didn't God Rescue Daniel From the Lions' Den?" It's a fun Negro Spiritual that encourages us to remember that, even when times are at their worst (what could be worse than slavery), God is still in control, and He will rescue in His time. It was great to hear so many boys in the choir, too.

The homeschool choir is one of those wonderful blessings that Shari and I are going to be sorry to leave. Not only does it give Michael some great choral training and experience, but it also provides an avenue for him to learn how to do things solo. Last year he did performed a piano piece he had written himself. Tonight, while he didn't perform, many of the kids did. There was everything from Pachebel's Canon in D to Linkin Park. There was even a mandolin and guitar duet, along with a young men's choir being accompanied by the mandolin, violin, and guitar. So, Michael would have more chances as he got older to perform in a variety of ways. But, like Daniel, we will trust God, even in the lions' den of moving.
