Things I'm Thankful For
)An observant wife, who noticed that water was seeping up through some cracks in our tiles.
)That we have four more tiles to replace the cracked ones.
)After taking up two tiles, and the kick plate for the dishwasher (It's got to be coming from somewhere, but why wouldn't it just run right out on top of the tiles?), we discovered that the inlet valve hose for the dishwasher was dripping.
)In the process of discovering this, we discovered another leak at the other end of the dishwasher hose, and our hot water hose to the sink.
)The leak was easy to spot, easy to get to, and easy to fix.
)Ace Hardware stays open until 9:00 during the Christmas season, even on Sundays.
)The whole repair bill came to only $17.00, rather than several hundred had we not spotted the leak until weeks later. (See #1 above.)
)Evidence suggests that, though there may be a little (3 in. x 1 in.) spot on our brand new ceiling that needs repainting, the likelihood is that there won't be any more lasting damage than that. With so little water leaking for such a short time, we're of the opinion it will dry out between the floors easily.
)We had noticed for the past 4-7 days (definitely no more) that the spray arm in the dishwasher had been hitting the heating element. After fixing the leak, I noticed that the spray arm is no longer having that problem. My brilliant wife put two and two together and suggested that maybe the lack of water pressure had been causing the problem. Hence, for $17.00, we solved two problems with our dishwasher.
We have much to be thankful for every day. In addition to all of this, God gave Shari and I special grace to be able to see all the good instead of become frustrated and angry over the bad/inconvenient. Thank you, God, for all you give us, even in the tough times.
