I have brilliant children

I can't believe I haven't posted in almost three months. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to, but this opportunity came up, so I'm taking it real quick.

I've spent the last couple of hours preparing a message for the jr. high group this Thursday night. My scripture is Ephesians 1:13-14, and I'm endeavoring to communicate to the jr highers (all girls still) what's so amazing and important - not to mention relevant - about the Holy Spirit and His abiding in us. So, I've talked (or planned to talk) about His power, His transforming work, and how this deposit from God communicates God tremendous love for us as adopted children. I'm trying to wrap it up (on my outline - I'm still prepping here), and I'm looking for a video clip that might work to help drive these points home. I'm thinking something from "Transformers", but I've never really seen the movie (don't curse or stone me - I have reasons), and the clip I'm thinking of that I have seen is vague, and I'm not sure it will work. So, I'm going through sites I've got bookmarked that have suggestions for things like this, trying to find either that scene or another that will work. I'm finding nothing! I mention to Matthew (one of my two interruptors today that I'm constantly having to remember are my most important job) what I'm doing. Michael overhears from another room, and wanders in. He proceeds to explain to me how the scene from Spider Man where Peter Parker gets bit and first discovers his powers is a great picture of what the Holy Spirit does. He's rambling on, trying to convince me. I sit, adjusting my perception of my growing son. Eventually I turn to him and assure him that he's hit the nail on the head, and I'm very proud of his suggestion. While I'm excited about the analogy (even with it's imperfections of things like spider bite vs. us inviting the Holy Spirit, it's a great picture), I'm even more excited about Michael's grasping of things of God. He's getting it, and only God's Holy Spirit in Him can be the cause. Hmmm... I've read that somewhere today.
