Advancing to the Finals

Tonight Michael's baseball team played in the snow, rain, cold, wind, and a little sunshine (though that was mostly during warm-ups. Michael pitched during the last inning, and only got 4 warm-up tosses because the ump was trying to hurry up the game. I think he prolonged it, though, as Michael proceeded to walk about 6 batters. However, after walking in 4 runs (and borrowing my UW hooded sweatshirt off my back - what a dad I am), he eventually got his pitching arm on. He proceeded to put a guy out stealing home, then struck out the next two of three batters. It took him a while, but he warmed up. While he can't say that for his hitting (0 for 3), he did put the tying run in scoring position with his ground out to first. His team won, 10-9, scoring the go-ahead run in the bottom of the last inning with one out. So, they're on to the Championship game this Friday night. I'm supposed to have a meeting with the Trustees that night. I think it will be postponed, but we'll see. It would be so cool to see him and the team win the tournament after such a frustrating season of one-run losses.

I'm off to bed soon. Been sleeping poorly, and VBS is all this week. We're using Group Publishing's "Power Lab: Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power." Shari's a counselor-type, and I'm leading the games. All the games in the set-up are primarily messy, and most are water-types, especially tomorrow. With the weather we've been having, I've had to change some things - like, almost all the games - to keep kids warm and dry and indoors. It's been great fun to work with all the different age groups. The emotional drain is so worth the reward of seeing the different kids sprout another little bit towards knowing Jesus. It's also a great reminder how God makes us all different, and I'm definitely wired for teenage ministry. But, these kids make me smile and laugh. Pray that God's Power to Minister would be on me. Thanks.
