While You Were Out... Pt. 2

Shari is on a kayak trip with YD Adventures, two volunteers, and five students from Lolo Community Church. While she's gone, I'll be posting our daily happenings so she can read all that happened while she was gone. I know I won't remember it all, and some will even be worth remembering.

The day started a little later than I wanted due to staying up until midnight. However, by 9:00 I had the lawn mowed, and the boys were up and dressed. We had waffles for breakfast on our "new" waffle iron. This is the first one we've owned which I didn't have to fight to get the waffles out. They didn't stick at all. I didn't even use oil on the last four. The boys ate them like I hadn't fed them since Sunday. It was fun. Afterward breakfast and cleaning up the place, I got the lawn watered, finished folding clothes, and then went weeding the garden and play area. In the midst of that we had our excitement for the day - Matthew was stung. We're not sure why, as I couldn't find a bee's nest anywhere near or in the swing set (even hit on it in a couple of places), but he was definitely stung. He screamed so loud, I was afraid somebody would at least come over, if not call the police. I couldn't find the meat tenderizer, so I ended up calling mom for first-aid help, and she reminded me to use baking soda. He was fine in about 15-20 minutes.

The afternoon was spent catching up on e-mails, letters and phone calls, including a call to BMC about the cost of a door. A glass interior one may be a bit more spendy than we can afford, but I'm not sure if part of that cost is making the door fit because it's not quite standard. It could also just be the glass, but a regular 6-panel from there wasn't too cheap, either, compared to Lowe's.

After running a few errands, we came home and had hot dogs and cheese and broccoli. We didn't have lunch because breakfast was so late, so they were hungry. While Mark and Matthew finished their dinner and got ready for bed, Ben was actually all over that, especially when I told him I'd read him a story. Eventually I got all the boys to bed, but Mark and Matthew had a rough time getting there. It's 11:00 pm, and they're still awake. Benjamin, despite his tantrums at having to go to bed, was out within 30 min. I think it's a record that he didn't come out even once after I kissed him goodnight. After the kids were at least down, I also spread the ant poison. I hope that stuff works well and quick. They are annoying enough outside, but inside they're beyond annoying. I spread some around the outside of the garden and apple tree, too.

I stayed up and watched all the extras on Star Wars II. It was fascinating. The deleted scenes were actually pretty boring, though what they were (Padme's family and the trial of Anakin and Padme by Dooku) was interesting to know about. The fascinating part was the stuff they told about making it - the story, the special effects, etc. I love hearing about that stuff.

Not quite as exciting as last time, but a full day for me, anyway. It felt good to get some more weeding done. Now, if I can not only finish the garden, but get that huge tuft of grass out of the rock area, the back yard will look much better. Then there's getting my office done...
