Proud Papa

Michael had a coach-pitch game today. He plays all sorts of positions - catcher, outfield, etc. Usually his strong point is his hitting. Today was no exception - he got on base 4/4 times. However, he made an amazing defensive play today. Try and picture it... or simply allow a dad to relive the moment. He's playing short stop. A pop-fly is coming down almost on top of the pitcher's mound, but behind the two players playing that position. Michael runs up, watching the ball the whole way... yes, the whole way, as he trips over the pitcher's mound and lunges for the ball, landing hard. The ball - lands right in his mitt... and stays there. It was beautiful! Both coaches came out and congratulated him (the opposing team's coach was already out there). Michael's coach could not believe his eyes, and kept shaking his head and talking about it afterwards. It was truly one for the highlight reels for tonight at 10:00... only, of course, none of us were video taping. My apologies in advance to the grandparents for not video taping the games.

  • Relive it and relive it over and over! Memorize the little hands around the bat, the half squat position, the wad of gum in the mouth, the wiggle of the hindend before the hit.It seems like yesterday Dan and I were takng Travis to practices, grabbing a "Happy Meal", stocking up on the gum, watching the games, losing our voice cheering on our son. Oh-how time flies. Precious are those times. Times we can pull out of our hearts and relive in our memory every so often. Yes, Paul we shall allow you to relive all the moments of your children. Spread those peacock wings like a proud PaPa.
