Bob's Island Getaway - The Girls!

I am very pumped about what God's done over the past week. My desire in working for YD is that students hear about Jesus, commit their lives to Him, get plugged into a church, and grow in their faith. Hmmm... make disciples? Anyway, here are some pictures and reports on Bob's Island Getaway. (For those wondering what Bob's is, go here.)
What's it like living in community, especially a Christian one? Rose's small group had a taste of some of the struggles as two of the girls went head-to-head over some drama in their lives. The other girls watched as Rose took these two girls to task. Here they were claiming to love Jesus and having invited Him into their hearts, and they were hurting each other and not forgiving each other. Rose coached them on forgiveness and talking through things, while the other girls watched. Was it perfect? Probably not, anymore than any of us are. But after talking with Rose, I've got to believe she did a fantastic job of portraying what it means to work through relationship friction between Christians. The girls are still struggling with other areas of their faith, but another step was taken in their growth, and that's what it's all about - encouraging them to take steps w/o going backwards.
C (yes, that's her name) had three girls who were very outgoing. They had a great time with different activities. Two of them went sea kayaking for the first time, and had a blast. During the small group times, they talked much about God as a father, and what that looks like compared to the pain and struggles of a relationship with their earthly father. One young lady recommitted her heart to Jesus, while the other two indicated a desire to continue the dialogue. Again, steps taken are steps in becoming a disciple.
